Theater
The revenue figures look bad but the attendance figures look worse, and that gap is the whole story. The domestic box office generated roughly $8.8 billion in 2025, trailing the 2019 pre-pandemic peak of about $11.4 billion by more than 22 percent. But actual ticket sales admissions have fallen to approximately 780 million annually, down nearly 37 percent from the 1.2 billion tickets sold in 2019. The gap between the revenue decline and the attendance decline is explained by ticket prices, which climbed from a national average of about $9.16 in 2019 to north of $11 today. In other words, theaters are partly masking an attendance collapse by charging more per ticket.
Netflix
Netflix surpassed 300 million subscribers worldwide in early 2025, with figures cited between 301.6 million and 325 million subscribers globally, making it the most subscribed SVOD platform worldwide.
Amazon Prime Video
Amazon’s strategy is structurally different from everyone else’s. Rather than competing purely on subscribers, it’s positioning itself as the hub everything else flows through. Amazon Prime Video spent approximately $7 billion on content in 2025, and the $8.5 billion MGM acquisition fundamentally restructured how Amazon thinks about content layering IP driven franchise strategy on top of originals, licensed content, live sports, and international co productions
Disney+
Disney’s streaming arm has swung from heavy losses to profitability. CEO Bob Iger highlighted that the direct to consumer business was running a $4 billion operating loss just three years ago, but by Q4 2025 this had swung to $352 million in DTC operating income, a 39% increase year over year. On subscribers: Disney+ rose by 3.8 million to roughly 132 million in its latest quarter, while Disney+ and Hulu combined reached 196 million subscribers, with the base split roughly 50/50 between domestic and international.
FAQ
What kind of movies and shows do you review?
A bit of everything, but my taste leans toward smart sci-fi, slow-burn crime dramas, and the occasional charming caper. If a story sticks with me after the credits roll, it tends to end up here whether it’s a brand new blockbuster or a series that’s been around for years.
How do you score or rate things?
I don’t do star ratings or numbers. I find them reductive and easy to game with hype. Instead, every write-up tells you what the story is, who’s behind it, how critics responded, and most importantly whether it’s actually worth your evening. You’ll get an honest verdict, not a number.
Are your reviews spoiler-free?
Yes. The main write-ups stick to setup and premise enough to know if something’s for you, never enough to ruin it. If a post ever needs to discuss spoilers, it’ll be clearly marked before you get there.
How often do you post new reviews?
New write ups are added regularly as I watch things worth talking about. There’s no fixed schedule I’d rather post something I genuinely have an opinion on than fill a calendar slot for its own sake.
Do you only cover new releases?
No, I review movie that i watched. Try to at least not judge the book by it cover and pick the good one.
Where can I watch the things you review?
You can look at it onĀ my blog, the most recent post will by my most recent review.
Can I request a review or suggest something to watch?
Yes, contact me through via email and I will put it in my watch list, PS pick interesting movies.
